New NZADDs Commentary: ‘Paddling in Choppy Waters’

Former head of the Council for International Development, Pat Webster has written an NZADDs Commentary entitled ‘Paddling in Choppy Waters’. The commentary is a response to the NZADDs Working Paper, ‘Paddling on One Side of the Canoe?’

In the paper Pat argues that decisions about NZ aid policy are inherently political and that we need to engage in the politics to improve NZ aid policy. You can download and read the commentary here (pdf).

New NZADDs Working Paper: the Changing Landscape

We have a new NZADDs working paper!

The Changing Landscape of International Development in Aotearoa/New Zealand
by Ed Challies, Andrew McGregor and Lee Sentes

This paper considers the impacts a change of government is having upon the international development community in Aotearoa / New Zealand. The new National Government has implemented dramatic changes to the structure and nature of the New Zealand government aid programme. The paper looks at the rationale for this restructuring and the impacts it is having upon the international development sector, with a particular focus on New Zealand-based non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
